Ryan's Atlanta Truck Series Preview
Mathews to Wheel BHR #4 at Atlanta
After a three race hiatus Ryan Mathews is stepping back into a NASCAR Craftsman Series Truck at this weekend’s upcoming race in Atlanta. Mathews who drove the #22 NCTS Bill Davis Racing Toyota Tundra for twelve races will be behind the #4 Bobby Hamilton Racing Open Joist Dodge as a substitute for Mike Bliss who will be attending the BUSCH Series race in Memphis.
“It has been really hard to sit and watch from the sidelines,” said Mathews. “I look forward to getting back in the truck this weekend and I am very thankful to Lori Hamilton and everyone at BHR for giving me this opportunity.”

Mathews stepped out of the #22 Bill Davis Racing Toyota Tundra after the race in New Hampshire to help the team prepare for Jacques Villeneuve’s NASCAR debut. In his twelve races with Bill Davis, Mathews finished 96.1 % of the total race laps, scoring 1 top 5, 2 top 10, 5 top 15 and 9 top 20 finishes. He also captured the Bud Pole Award, in only his 7th start in a NCT, back at Kentucky in July.
“We are still talking with several teams and exploring all the options,” said Connection Motorsports Group President John Madrigal. “ We are patiently waiting for the dust to settle from all of the transactions taking place and hope to have Ryan in something full time for next year.
