Game Overview NEWS
Fresno State vs. Hawaii
Published by Admin on October 10, 2009
Fresno State is coming off another loss against Cincinnati and is 1-3, however, despite what the Bulldog’s record shows, they’re probably one of the toughest and most dangerous 1-3 teams out there. The Bulldogs are a team that should be feared. They have out gained every opponent they’ve faced thus far and have played 3 ranked teams who are still all undefeated.
Even though they have a losing record, it has been all to respectable teams. First Wisconsin in over time, the now rank #6 Boise State, and #8 Cincinnati are all opponents tougher than what the Hawaii Warriors have faced.
Hawaii Warriors
Hawaii was shut out in their conference opener against Louisiana Tech and has only beaten Central Arkansas and Washington State. The only advantage I see Hawaii having being able to play at their home stadium, because their starting Quarterback Greg Alexander suffered a knee injury and is out for the rest of the season. The Warriors were shut down by Louisiana Tech, the first time since 2004.
The Warriors have spent the last 17 out of 23 days on the road and should be excited to be playing at home again.
Fresno State Bulldogs
The past 3 weeks the Bulldogs have had tough encounters all 3 coming up short. If the Bulldogs want to keep their hopes up for a Bowl game, they will need to desperately win this and probably the rest of their games.
Right now, the Hawaii Warriors will be facing Ryan Mathews (currently the 2nd ranked rusher in the country). Mathews has averaged 6.8 yards a carry and has a total of 592 yards. All these numbers were put up facing a tougher opposition, it doesn’t look to good for the Warriors as they are coming into this game as the 107th ranked rushing defense in the nation.
